Diana is a poignant story of love and betrayal, loss and redemption.
Diana's summer job at the fair as the sexy fortuneteller 'Virgin Diana' takes an encouraging turn when she gets the opportunity to flaunt her wiles for Joe Peters. Joe is a returning WW II pilot with a bright future as an Air Corps officer. Diana imagines romance, travel, and adventure...
Life in a trailer home, parked in the back pasture of Joe's parents' farm, does not fulfill Diana's dreams. Are infidelity, murder and the bitter realities of survival in post-WW II rural New York State to be Diana's fate? For an entire generation it would seem so, as brother-in-law Tom's romantic intentions are lost on the long-grieving Diana. Her only concern is for her daughter.
But Tom won't give up without a fight--and one final curse from the mysterious Diana.
One unique aspect: the story is narrated by Eloise Roberson, aka Virginia, the deposed fortuneteller for Dick Burton's carnival. Virginia and Diana don't exactly become fast friends but a skeptical respect develops between the two, leading to a lifelong friendship.
