Anyone that has traveled abroad or even to different parts of the US will relate to this story. The writing and attention to detail keeps you glued to the pages until the end. I really enjoyed the subtle comedy throughout the novel that keeps you lifted even throughout the most brutal happenings in the drug cartel world. Next time I cross the border,I'm definitely going to buy that Surfing Monkey with blue and white striped swim trunks and sunglasses. Classic!
As a San Diego native and a frequent visitor to Baja California, I was impressed with the amount of detail, references and descriptions of many places people, and culture. Even if you don't live here, by the time you finish the novel, you'll feel like a native. I really hope we get to see this on film, what a great movie it would be.
