If you are looking for a great adventure story to read this summer that will keep you glued to your seat until you finish it--well then, have I got the book for you, "Junkyard Blues" by Nan Mahon and "Big Mac" McAuley! The plot would make for a good movie but the actual reading of the novel is a refreshing and fun experience. The authors have a way with words and phrasing that makes it a guilty pleasure to read.
There is a excellent balance between dialog and the narrative; however, it is the characters that make it a fun reading adventure. It is pure entertainment! It is the kind of book that you would love to have on vacation or at your bedside to pick up and read when you are looking to lose your personal problems. You will get involved in a world that most of us will never know or understand except through books like this.
This book earns "The American Authors Association's" FIVE STAR Rating and also my personal recommendation. Go out and buy it and enjoy it!

Laura and Bobby had been best friends since the second grade, sharing secrets in the ripped-up seats of wrecked cars in her father's salvage yard. After high school graduation, Bobby and two friends joined the Army Airborne. When his tour of duty in Viet Nam ended, he came home with recurring nightmares and persistent guilt that he survived a POW camp, and his friends did not.

Wanting to stay near Laura, he lives in a travel trailer in her junkyard, rides a Harley-Davidson, and seems adrift.

When a body and a duffle bag filled with cash are found in the back lot of the junkyard, there is little doubt that a drug cartel is involved. When the money disappears, the cartel turns to kidnapping and murder, demanding its return from Bobby, whom they believed took it. Then the chase is on.

Bobby rekindles old friendships in a motorcycle gang—the One-Eyed Jacks—and finds allies as he and the cartel fight a running battle through Mexico, Texas, and California.
