"Attack of the Movie Stars" is a funny novel. If a movie, advertisements would, undoubtedly, label it,"black comedy." That's because bad things happen to good people, fairly good people, and really bad people. Nobody is exempt.
Five fortyish women--a school teacher, cafe owner, real estate agent, new widow, and the wife of a hardware store owner--have come to believe that the shooting of a Major Motion Picture in their little town of Groversville, Oregon, and the arrival of a famous male actor who--even in the midst of the town's welcoming crowd--seems to notice each and every one of them, is an omen of sorts, a sign that, at long last, they are destined for more in life than small town everydayness. The handsome star will surely leave his shrewish wife and rescue one of them from oblivion if she can just pull herself together--lose a few pounds, tint her hair, wear thong underwear. The story revolves around the women's hot pursuit of this failed, yet dedicated philanderer, their own infighting, and the bored reaction of the man's movie star wife, who is occupied with her own dalliances.
Be assured. The Hollywood power players do not return home unscathed.
