Beto DELUXE RECLINING BABY SEAT GREY Review

Beto DELUXE RECLINING BABY SEAT GREY
Average Reviews:

The instructions for the rack were useless, in the end I don't think the rack fit my Jamis hybrid anyway. The top and bottom parts of the seat did not fit together because a part of the plastic where the seat connects seemed to be made poorly. The box I received the chair in looked like it had been returned several times. It was very beat up, taped up, and looked old.

Bell Cocoon Rack Mounted Bicycle Child Carrier Review

Bell Cocoon Rack Mounted Bicycle Child Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Overall the seat met or exceeded my expectations in terms of the installation, adjustment, and use. We bought it last fall and until last week hadn't used it in warm weather. After returning from a ride in the seat with my wife, my son had cuts/scratches on the inside of both arms above the elbow(wearing a t-shirt). The cause of the injuries was the edge of the large holes on the sides of the wrap-around cage. The molding process left very sharp edges like you might find on a plastic knife. I sanded down all the edges and its fine now, but as you can imagine, we were a little annoyed. It could have just been my unit and all others are fine, but I don't think something that can cause that type of injury should make it past quality inspection.

Chariot SideCarrier 1 Child Side Mounted Child Carrier Review

Chariot SideCarrier 1 Child Side Mounted Child Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned this carrier for 3 years and I have to say that chariot makes the highest quality carriers on the market in my opinion. The benefits to a side carrier are the ability to view you child with ease vs turning around to a trailer, the ability to use a trail-a-bike, utility or child trailer in conjunction with the side carrier. The negatives that I found are. 1, the tire wear. 2, the hitch weighs 1Lb 10oz and if you have a bike with expensive light weight components and your concerned about your bikes total weight this is problem, and it's not practical to remove the hitch when not in use. 3, if you ride on sidewalks the total width of the bike & carrier may be problem depending on you cycling skills. 4, if you use panniers on the right side of the bike it will affect your right turning ability. 5, clearance issues if you have a front fender. The unit handles very well. Other than that it's a very cool design and you surely wont run into many people using the sidecar.

Co-Rider Front Facing Mid-Mount Child Bike Seat Review

Co-Rider Front Facing Mid-Mount Child Bike Seat

We received the Co-rider seat as a gift from friends. It's awesome and our son LOVES it! He has such a blast riding on the front of my bike with me as he is included in the action, not just a passive passenger. He is able to see everything without having to turn his head one way or the other for long periods of time, and he gets to challenge his core muscles too. I feel more safe with him on the front of my bike than hanging off the back in our other bike seat. I highly recommend the Co-rider for the kiddo's!

Kettler Rodeo Child Bike Carrier Review

Kettler Rodeo Child Bike Carrier
Average Reviews:

We were hesitant to spend this money on a bike seat with so many out there for much less. After a lot of research but limited reviews on this we took the plunge. No regrets what so ever. First, it is a great looking seat. Second, the shape and quality of the materials are very high. Third, it is easy to take on and off after mounting the standard frame mount and you can buy an extra one for another bike. Finally, safety is the most important for our daughter and we have no concerns when she is in this seat. We highly recommend it, a bit expensive, but well worth it.

CoPilot Taxi Bicycle Child Seat Review

CoPilot Taxi Bicycle Child Seat
Average Reviews:

We had one of these of unknown age and it broke when the bike toppled over - to much leverage on the plastic. We liked it enough to replace it, and now we have the "rack" on both Mom and Dad's bikes and one seat. I've used both front-mounted and rear-mounted seats and neither is ideal - it's a little awkward and wobbly one way, versus the other. But biking with the child is still wonderful. This doesn't hold that big a child, our girl is four, petite, about 30 lbs, and her legs are down at the bottom of the "holsters" for her feet. I think this is a good model, the price is good, and it gives you a "rack" you can use with a bungie cord for carrying this or that instead of the child seat. Easy to mount on and off.

Treat your child to spin around your neighborhood or a trek through the city by bike with this CoPilot Taxi bicycle seat. This comfortable seat holds a child (up to 40 pounds) securely with a high seat-back design, quick-release grab bar, and three-point harness. The gel-filled, washable seat padding makes it comfortable for long rides. It comes with the Blackburn EX-1 bike rack, which fits securely on most bikes and offers a quick-release mounting system that makes it easy to swap the seat between bikes with the addition of a second rack. Once the rack is attached, the seat can be installed or removed in less than 30 seconds.

iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle Seat Review

iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle Seat
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Before purchasing this seat, I had to carefuly do a deep research on the subject. I am a 6'2" guy, so, a was really concerned about having the seat hitting my knees. My neighbor has another model, which does not work at all for me, not even for him. He has to keep his legs kind of open in order to be able to ride the bike... Terrible!
Furtunately, I decided to go with the most expensive model. Sometimes the cheap become expenseive, isn't it? well... I did the right decision, instead of spending $48 dollars, I spent $89.00 on this safe-T-seat, and I cannot be happier.
The seat mechanism is really simple. It's just a little T-bar that you will be in contact with the bike. The seat plugs itself on this bar. The seat keeps in a perfect position. Even my long legs do not touch it when riding. I can ride my bike just like I was riding before the new passenger.
It took me less than 5 minutes to install the T-bar on my bike.
My daughter stays in a very comfortable position. By the way, she loved the new activity, and keeps asking me all the time for "MORE" when she sees the bike.
Well, if you want to have pleasure time and no headaches while in your bike, this is the seat you need to purchase.
CONS: The only thing I didn't like much about this product is that it only support kids up to 32 pouds. Well, nothing in the world is totally perfect! So there is no time to lose, I will ride my bike with my daughter as much as I can before she reachs her 38 pouds. :)Hope you enjoy my review.
---- ---- ---- 3 Years and 3000 Miles Latter ---- ---- ----
Hi everyone... here I am again (Jan-08-2009) to give you an additional feedback about this product.
My daughter is now 42 pounds (4 years old), and 110cm tall - I am still riding the bike with her. Her legs now touch the bottom of the seat, giving her more support. Her heigth still does not bother me.
Since she is now havier than the suggested weight, I will no longer take her on the seat, I am thinking about one of those semi-bikes that we attach on the back. The good news is that my wife is pregnant, and my Safe-T seat is still like new after 3000 miles - I am positive I will soon enough use it with the new baby that is about to arrive.
Thank you all for the POSITIVE VOTES on this review.

Created by parents who were disappointed with the family bicycling options available, the iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle seat was made to offer families the best biking experience possible in safety and comfort. This front mounted seat offers both parent and child excellent range of vision, with the opportunity to interact as they bike together. Noted for its ease of use, the seat takes just a few minutes to install and remove, and it is equally easy and safe to load and unload the child from the seat. Providing plenty of clearance for the knees so that the adult can bike with ease, the seat is positioned so that it is easy to maintain the center of gravity. This adaptable seat fits any adult bike with a minimum of 3/4 inches of clearance on the handlebar stem.
The iBert Safe-T seat was developed after its creators became frustrated with the available bike seat options for children. They found that bike trailers kept their kids uncomfortably far away from them, got too hot in the sun, and only provided a limited view out to the children. The rear-mounted seats presented similar problems. The kids had a limited view and it was difficult to interact with them. Additionally, the balance of the bike was off and it was not easy to load and unload the kids. Other front mounted seats were complicated to hook onto the bike and difficult to remove. These seats also did not allow knee clearance for biking, and as a result were not comfortable.
The iBert Safe-T seat offers a variety of safety and comfort advantages compared to other child bike seat options. The iBert Safe-T seat allows you to maintain control of the bike when loading and unloading your child. To load and unload the child, you simply straddle the bike and lift the child into or out of the seat. When using the iBert seat you can always see what your child is doing and you can make sure that your child is safe and comfortable at all times. The center of gravity in the iBert seat is closer to the center of the bike making it easier to control the bike as you ride. The seat sits higher on the bike and is smooth on the bottom so that even tall riders rarely brush the bottom of the seat with their knees and if they do they just glide along the smooth edges on the bottom.
The iBert Safe-T seat is easy to install. The patented stinger assembly attaches to any bike with a minimum of 3/4 inches on the handle bar stem. The stinger system attaches to the bike in just two minutes and the seat can then be attached and detached from the stinger in 15 seconds. If you buy additional stinger assemblies the seat can be attached to multiple bikes.
The iBert Safe-T seat is made in the U.S.A. with safety and quality as the main objectives. While the iBert Safe-T seat is designed to meet all 1625-00 standards, at this time ASTM 1625-00 is written for rear child carriers not front mounted seats.

WeeRide LTD Kangaroo Child Bike Seat Review

WeeRide LTD Kangaroo Child Bike Seat
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
[...]
Back in Spring we got him a WeeRide LTD seat. This fits between the handlebars and my seat. (There is also a non-LTD version with less padding. Both versions are sold with the mounting bar included; the separately sold bar is only for a family that wants a second one, to be able to quickly move the seat from one bicycle to another.)
It works great. But there are a large number of caveats.
First, it does not fit every bicycle. The Amazon reviews make clear that some people had to return it for this reason.
Second, I am 5'4" and it just barely fits comfortably. Anyone smaller than me would probably have problems. I did not have to change how I pedaled, or where my knees where.
Third, the 5mm hex key it comes with is so poorly machined it does not work. Anyone ordering the seat should also buy a hex key set if they do not already own one.
Fourth, my leg length allows me to normally stop the bicycle without hopping off the seat, simply pointing one foot tiptoe to rest while stopped. Anyone used to hopping off the seat when stopped would obviously have to change habits.
Fifth, my fitness level and bicycles number of gears allow me to bicycle up even the steeper hills I would ride on without standing. I never had the habit of standing while pedaling up a hill. I have not tried standing while Smiley is in his seat, but from the Amazon reviews apparently this does not work.
Sixth, the harness system is odd. Smiley can twist out of a shoulder strap, as he did in the above picture when smelling roses at the Owen Rose Garden. I assume this is intentional. If, heaven forbid, I was to crash then having the toddler firmly stuck in the seat is probably not the best option. But a wiggly child who does not follow instruction would need a different bicycle seat.
Seventh, the child can grab the handlebars. Smiley does not try this while I hold them, but if I let go of one to adjust my MP3 player or blow my nose he sometimes does. Be alert for this potential source of swerving!
Eighth, the routes I might bicycle are all on streets and paths kept clean of gravel and debris. By using a bicycle seat instead of a trailer, I am betting that my likelihood of crashing my bicycle is less than a motorist's likelihood of hitting my trailer. If I lived near gravel roads or where autumn leaves sat damp and made slipping a danger, a trailer would be the better choice.
Ninth, there is no hole in the seat large enough to pass a cable lock through. Where I live I am not worried about the seat disappearing while the bicycle is locked in front of the library or a store. In other locations this might be an issue; the seat comes off quickly and easily but is very bulky to carry around while doing errands.
Tenth, pediatricians currently recommend that babies under a year of age not use any bicycle seat or trailer. Their brains still slosh around too much for that kind of vibration to be safe.

The ultimate in child and comfort and safety, the WeeRide LTD Kangaroo child bike seat offers all the features of WeeRide's popular Kangaroo carrier--including a unique carrying position and adjustable foot cups--but ups the ante by adding ultra-thick padding on the seat and back and a padded shoulder harness. As a result, your child will be more secure and comfortable than ever while you ride across the countryside or to the grocery store. The LTD Kangaroo is an unusual child bike seat because it doesn't sit behind the bike saddle, as with most carriers, but in front of the rider. This puts your child in a safer position, where you can easily take note if he or she is upset.
The deluxe safety harness and oversized buckle system, meanwhile, will keep your child secure while giving him or her a much better view of the road and surrounding activities. Perhaps the subtlest yet most convenient feature, however, is the enhanced weight distribution, which keeps you from wavering while navigating corners or hitting bumps. The LTD Kangaroo bike seat--the plushest carrier that WeeRide makes--carries a two-year warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions Q: What are the age and weight limits for passengers of the Kangaroo child carrier?
A: The recommended limit is 4 years old and 40 pounds.Q: What is the minimum age for passengers?
A: The child should be able to support his or her own head with the added weight of a helmet, usually one years old. Please consult your pediatrician.Q: What is the maximum height for passengers?
A: This is also dependent upon the height of the adult piloting the bicycle, obviously the rider needs to see over and reach around the passenger. A good way to judge the height of the passenger is to sit him or her on a bench and have the adult sit directly behind them. If the adult can see over and reach around the child, you should be fine on the bike.Q: Will I have to alter my cycling position or pedal stroke when using the child carrier?
A: Yes, but the alteration is minimal. It's not a tremendous alteration of your cycling, but you will have to pedal with your knees slightly more apart than usual to avoid hitting the seat. For the short recreational trips you are taking with your child, this will be a very minor inconvenience in comparison to the quality time spent with them. If you are going for a long training ride you wouldn't want to subject your child to that, so the seat is easily removed for those rides.Q: Will the child carrier fit my bike?
A: Wee Ride carriers will fit most bicycles: mountain, hybrid, cruiser, men's, or women's bikes. It will not fit to road bikes with drop style handlebars (rider is too hunched over) and downhill/freeride bikes (DH forks have legs that go up almost to the handlebars and the WeeRide mounting bar will restrict steering).Q: What if I want to switch the carrier between two different bicycles?
A: An additional mounting bar is available separately. You can mount it to the other bike and switch the carrier at will.

Avenir Dome Dual Trailer with Stroller Attachment (Orange/Gray) Review

I longingly looked at this "Trailer with stroller Attachment" for my toddlers for months...and finally I was given it for my Birthday. It does NOT have a stroller attatchment, and one was never made. I talked to to Aviner Customer Service for an hour, while the guy tried to make things better...But it was no use, there wasnt really much he could do.
That being said... I rate this product 5 stars as a bike trailer. It is amazing! Very comfy seats with thick cushions (comparitevly) with lots of storage in the back. The dome style is great for keeping bugs and dirt out and also doubles as a sun canopy. A wind/ rainshield is also included. It looks and feels alot more expensive than it was. Avenir customer service was great.
Amazon However....I will NEVER do buisness with again. Shame on them for False Advertising!!!!

Schwinn Joyrider Bicycle Trailer (Red/Gray) Review

Schwinn Joyrider Bicycle Trailer (Red/Gray)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my 2nd bike trailer, the first was an Instep brand. I hated it! I returned it- the main reason was the seats were TERRIBLE! My daughters were basically suspended from their crotches by the time we got done with our first (and last) ride. So the most important feature I was looking for when finding the Schwinn PR150 was comfortable seating...with which I am fully satisfied. These seats are big and cushy with comfortable harnesses.
Other reasons I am happy with this purchase:
-Easily converts to double stroller (includes wheel- no need to purchase seperate kit)
-Cool updated look- a little newer than most trailers
-Comes with zip-off weather protector
-Storage area behind kid's seat
-Large storage pouch on the back
-Large storage and cupholder thing on handle (when used as stroller)
-Very easy to set up
-Very easy to convert from trailer to stroller and bar that hooks to bike folds under nicely.
I would definitley reccommend this product. It's worth the extra money and the quality surpasses the Target one I originally bought. I also looked into Burley, Ive heard good things about them, but decided on this because it was about a hundred bucks cheaper and came with conversion kit.

InStep Trailblazer Double Bicycle Trailer Review

The day after I received this item I hurt my knee and haven't yet been able to use it; however, we unpacked it and put it together. It was really easy to assemble and then to disassemble and store. ALL the packaging except for one little plastic tie and a 1" foam tube was recyclable - AWESOME! It seems fairly straightforward to attach it to my bike, with a small piece that goes on the bike and stays there. The trailer "hitch" then pops into that when I want to tow it. I have a cruiser bike, so I have yet to see how it fits with my particular bike, but it seems like it will be okay. It also smells really strongly of rubber or plastic - but I think it's the rubber on the wheels. We put them away separately to air them out a bit. I have one child for whom this was intended, but it ends up that my son (9 years old and 55 pounds) could actually fit in it if he had to. The instructions say not to have a child over 50 pounds in it to avoid an imbalance of weight, so I wouldn't PLAN on doing this. BUT in an emergency it would totally work. It feels well-built and I'm really looking forward to using it. I'll update this later if anyone wants to know how it works with my bike...
UPDATE - I've been using it and it's great. It works great with my bike - and I think it would work with any bike. My kids love it. I've even stuffed my son in it and it was fine. It's easy to ride with, it fits through all the spaces my bike fits through. I've ridden my bike with and without it and feel no difference - it's really great. We love it. At first I was taking the wheels off, folding it up and keeping it in its box for ease in storing it. Now I just fold it up and leave the wheels on - it fits standing up on end right next to our bikes. Couldn't be happier!

We use this with our XTerra trailer we bought at Costco to replace the big clamp style hitch (that scratched paint, came lose, etc...see my review on the attachment kit below). Has the same tube size as the Burley, but you will need this attachment kit to use with the hitch:
Burley Design Flex Connector for Round Tow Arm (Black)
Buy one of these hitches for each bike and one of the above kit for the trailer and you're ready to go.

InStep Sync Single Bicycle Trailer, Green/Gray Review

InStep Sync Single Bicycle Trailer, Green/Gray
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this for our 13 month old daughter. Several years ago we purchased a bike child seat that attached to the rear of the bike. That was a disaster. Too heavy, akward, and very uncomfortable for the child. So we looked at trailers instead for our youngest. Most of the trailers have two seats, but from what I read and saw in stores, the seats are extremely small and it's not realistic to fit two kids in the trailer together. Plus we only have one kid who isn't riding their own bike. I didn't want to haul around the extra room and weight if the space wasn't needed.
Setup was fairly easy. The instructions to install the hitch to the bicycle are good, and I had it attached within about 15 minutes of setting up the trailer itself. I also bought a second coupling so my wife and I can quickly switch the trailer between bikes.
There is plenty of room for a single child, and strapping my daughter in there was easy. The seat bottom has tension adjusters to keep the trailer bottom from sagging, although there's no way the floor would ever drag. The real beauty of this is once you get your child strapped in and attached to the bike. Unlike the child seat, I had no idea the trailer was behind me. The weight is hardly noticable. The ride is smooth, there is no jerking, it corners naturally, and my daughter sits in the trailer with a huge smile on her face. Some of the bike rides have been lengthy for a one year old - up to an hour, and so far she's never started fussing while being towed around. There is also a small amount of cargo space behind the seat. Enough for a diaper bag or some water bottles.
Overall we're very happy we found this unit. The price and weight were less than the double units, and so far no problems with performance.
