Although written for the young adult, I'm buying copies and sending it to all my adult friends who have any interest in animals, nature or just a darn good read. As we follow exciting but realistic adventures of a wild horse in Wyoming from foal to stallion, Golden touches the heart of a young girl and of every reader. Mark Newman's extensive experience as a naturalist and wildlife photographer inform this work and we cannot help but constantly learn about the animals, land and nature of the West and how humans interact with them. On top of all this, Golden presents us with a beautiful picture of living with and enjoying a wild creature while not needing to change its nature - surely the highest relationship with nature to which we can aspire. Don't miss out on this one!
