Malone SeaWing Saddle Style Universal Car Rack Kayak Carrier with Bow and Stern Lines Review

After trying several kayak carriers this is the most user friendly that I have found. Easy to install and easy to position kayaks on top. Even though brackets seem very secure I would like to see the mounting brackets enlarged to accomodate the larger rails on my vehicle (Tahoe Z71)locking more in place.

Thule 835XTR Hullaport Rooftop Kayak Carrier Review

Thule 835XTR Hullaport Rooftop Kayak Carrier
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have a Thule Roof Rack on my '08 CR-V and this Kayak carrier fits on it quickly and securely. As far as the kayak, I have a 13' Necky Manitou and it seats very well in the J-hooks. The supplied straps for each J-hook and the two ratcheting straps for either end of the boat really help to secure it down.
There is virtually no movement when traveling over bumps and >70 mph on the highway. In fact, it moves far less than my bikes do when they are on the roof rack. Getting the boat off is a breeze too (assuming it's light enough and your car isn't too tall for you). You unlatch the 4 straps and lift the boat right off, takes all of 45 seconds.
As far as wind noise of the J-hooks when you DON'T have a kayak on the roof - you don't even need to worry about it. Each J-hook fits on top of the rack and a plate swings underneath the roof rack and gets screwed to the J-hook via a thumb screw. And that is the beauty of it... when the kayak isn't on the roof, you undo one thumbscrew, swing the plate around, take the whole J-hook off and toss it in your car/truck. Saves on gas mileage and noise. Putting it back on takes 1 minute. The whole installation and removal of the J-hooks is so fast that getting the more expensive 835PRO with the fold-down J-hooks almost seems useless. Why fold it down and have someone steal it right off your car (these do not have thule locks or any lock for that matter) when you can just take it off in 20 seconds and lock it in your vehicle!
For those worried about locking the kayak to protect from theft while transporting, I have seen specific "Kayak Locks" made for J-hook style carriers that wrap around the kayak and roof rack (which I'm assuming the roof rack is locked to your roof...it should be!). They fit snugly too so you can't lift anything off the rack to get at the J-hooks. They are around $50 or so but they keep your $1000+ investment secure!

Swagman Yakart Kayak Cart Review

Swagman Yakart Kayak Cart
Average Reviews:

Great product. The frame is solid, the dual kick stand opens and closes with a nice snap. Very happy. The wheels come off with simple clip/pin. The unit rolls very well. Only problems/complaints are the straps they give you are stupid..super long and with a weenie cheap cam lock. Dump the straps and use a single long good bungie cord. You can strap the chord around your kayak and anchor it at convienent clip holes located on the cart down low by the tires, you'll see this clip hole on the unit where the small straps attach to the kick stand. One other thing: filling the tire tubes with air is a pain as the air valve stem, which is long enough, keeps diving back into the wheel rim as you try to attach a pump. Then it's hard again to get your pressure gage on the air valve. Once filled though, the air pressure stays good and the tires, and the unit, work and roll great across any surface or dirt trails. Good buy at less then $100. I know these kayak carts seem pricey as you can buy a whole kid's bike for $90 at walmart, but this unit is quality and as good as any of the $120, $130 priced carts I've seen at stores and elsewhere on line. Don't buy the cheap $65 carts, get this unit if you can find it at under or near $100

Paddleboy PB Flyer Bike Cart Review

Paddleboy PB Flyer Bike Cart

I honestly believe that if someone wanted to start a lawsuit, who ever made this bike cart should be on the other end. They made an attachment piece out of plastic. Seriously, the bike to trailer attachment is plastic. It's rated to 100 lbs and on the first trip it couldn't even pull a light kayak. A second issue was the frame sawing through the aluminum bolts. This is a simple design with crappy materials.

About Paddleboy The very first Paddleboy cart was born out of pure selfish concern. In 1995, dedicated paddler Brian Witt struggled to transport his canoes and kayaks across the park and down to the water. As any paddler without a cart knows, this kind of lugging uses energy that should be reserved for paddling. Witt knew there had to be a better way, so he designed a prototype cart that became the essence of every canoe and kayak enthusiast's dream: less lugging and more paddling. Today, Paddleboy Designs--located in Seattle, Washington--is the only watercraft cart manufacturer to offer both end and center carts, as well as one of the most supportive, competent dealer networks in the country.

Malone MicroSport 3-Boat Kayak Trailer Package-Gray Review

Malone MicroSport 3-Boat Kayak Trailer Package-Gray

I actually love this trailer. It is so easy to pull and great for the 4 kayaks. However, I took my first trip and appears to have a tire seal leaking grease on the inside of the right tire. It is under warranty so I hope they will fix it. It is so much better than other products assuming I can get this resolved.

I've used this a couple of times now, and I like it a lot. It's light, tows very easy, and does not bounce around. The instructions were very good and all the parts were there. Nothing negative at all.

ProSource Ultra Durable Heavy Duty Boat Trailer Cart Review

The quality of the Pro Source Kayak carrier is equal to others that cost much more. It makes transporting my kayak significantly easier. It does require straps to hold the unit to the kayak. Other units that I researched included them with the carrier. I was disapointed that they were not included. Fortunately, I had straps that I was able to utilize, otherwise, I would have had to go out and purchase them in order to use the carrier.

Trunk is okay, but available at Home Depot for $25. Would try to order the brackets separately (maybe from Malone) and save a bunch.
