I got this book for Christmas and just recently got around to reading it. Before that, I had never heard of it before, and it just now is starting to be advertised in magazines, i've noticed. Very good book for first-time author. I think this book would go better with kids ages 8-11 (it might get a slight bit boring for teens). I like the fact that it was from the horse's point of view. It is an interesting story and a nice, short story. I'm looking forward to reading the next book by Anita Coons.

Ranger is happily living on a Texas farm with other young ponies until, one day, strangers visit his field. When the strangers put halters on two of his friends and begin leading them away, Ranger can't understand why he isn't chosen. The strangers know why. There is something odd about the friendly little pony. Ranger only knows that another pony can leave the field because there is one more halter hanging on the gate. And he is going to find a way to wear it!In this first book of the Classic Spirit Series, Ranger and his pony friends share an adventure and learn valuable lessons about themselves and each other. This true story is told by a real live pony.
