Reviewed by Madeline McElroy (age 10) for Reader Views (9/11)When Stefan gets a role in a movie he never auditioned for, he has a chance to actually do something exciting! This movie takes place on snowy mountain top, icy and really cold. This movie is about people who land on an icy planet. They find that this is no normal planet; they find aliens, robots, mutants, and of course, wolves. The other people Stefan is working with are Jeremy, a wolf trainer, wolves, and a mean, diva girl named Raine. Raine wants everything to be her way, and she says always saying she is the best actor on set. Raine drives Stefan crazy. She is always complaining about Stefan messing up his lines and tripping from the icy walk. One time he was walking up an icy ramp holding a lantern and he tripped and the lantern fell on one of the wolves. Raine was really complaining now. The wolf trainer ran in and went crazy. They put her on some wood and brought her to the back of a truck to bring her to the vet. Stefan was saying sorry fifty times per minute. The director said it was fine, just a little accident. It wasn't a little accident for Stefan.
Now the snow has cleared out, and everyone is down shooting for the day, they are driving down to their hotels and Raine, Stefan, Jeremy, and one adult named Cecil are now alone in the lodge. They all went to bed shivering and super cold. They all woke up around 5:00 a.m. to find the windows were covered in snow and it was pitch black, the power had gone out so Jeremy grabbed a flashlight and went into the cafeteria to find some food. They found some milk and cake. They ate that. Raine said they should go look for wood to start the fire, they all went out and it took them at least a minute to take a full two steps. They found some wood. Raine started a fire in the fireplace, then they went to go look for some blankets in some movie trailers and to find more wood. Then they heard a big boom. They look around, and Cecil yells "Get out of the building!" Then snow comes rushing down - it's an avalanche. Stefan gets covered in snow and can't get up. Raine keeps yelling, "Stefan! Stefan!" Then she saw his boot...
I loved "Wolf Storm" because I love wolves and it's perfect for kids who love acting and wolves, or one of each. My favorite part is the end. My favorite scene I can make out in my head is probably how the wolves look and how the lodge looks all cut up and snow covered and furniture and glass everywhere. I love wolves, don't you? If you do, you will love this book.
