We get a very quick look into the lives of the two main characters before they meet for maybe five or seven pages or so, and then, bam, they meet and the action takes off and doesn't stop. I was surprised at how fast the book moves and how glued to the pages I was. It's just that kind of an addictive story. There are some new ideas on what a vampire is in this book. Being a longtime vampire fan since discovering Interview with the Vampire in the early 90s in junior high and then reading every vampire story I could find thereafter, I liked what the author had to say about vampires and what they really are. His vampires seem more believable than most others that come off as magical beings with no logic or science to explain their powers.
I have to admit that I'm not a teen or even into teenage lit, but I do have a thing for vampires. So I picked up this book because of that. I was happy that the writing seemed to be a cut above most of what's in this genre. It's a writing style that seems to be more adult contemporary that happens to be about vampires with a love story.

My Zombie Valentine Review

(More customer reviews)My Zombie Valentine was a paranormal romance anthology dealing some awesome authors. Angie Fox starts out the first story, and I have to say it's one of my favorites. The heroine is a voodoo love practitioner who ends up casting a love spell that brings her Mr. Right... Mr. Undead that is.
Katie MacAlister's was my least favorite it dealt with her Dark Ones. Personally I felt as if Sebastian deserved his own novel. Especially with the pain that the Betrayer brought upon him. I also though it was unfair to the readers and the heroine, Ysabelle, that her story was so short. I mean we find out in two sentences that she's an alchemist and her dad was pretty big. They should have gotten their own novel.
The third by Marianne Mancusi was also hilarious involving make up, real zombies, a low budget movie, and an actor that the heroine has been crushing on since she was 12. Really cute and fast paced.
The fourth was by Lisa Cach and had a really interesting premise. A plastic surgeon would inject, for free, Phi-Tox. Pretty soon LA women everywhere (think skinny plastic Barbie dolls with implants) are running amok craving sugar and fat. The hero is also very cute and a surfer dude.
I bought this on my Kindle and loved it. It was one of the better anthologies I have read. It was light hearted, paranormal, with each author giving her own twist to `Zombies'.

Fran does not feel that this is good or normal. To make it worse, Fran can read people if she touches them. Something her mother thinks she should use at the faire but which Fran is uncomfortable with. Then a sexy motorcycle rider shows up. He is the younger brother of one of Fran's few friends. He is also a very old vampire. While longevity goes with either sex, only the males can be true vampire. And if that wasn't enough, the vampire tells fran that she is his beloved and only she can lift his curse.
Now Fran has a vampire follower who almost worships her, a talent she hates, a mystery of who is robbing the faire, and everything is just confused. So Fran tries to hold off the vampire, agrees to use her talent to try and find the thief, and befriends a very special horse. Sounds simple enough until she finds herself fighting for her life against demons.
The relationship between Fran and Benedikt (the vampire) develops but it is obvious there will be more stories involving these two. The mystery was good and the action was acceptable. Katie Maxwell has created a very interesting world where demons, vampires, psychics and magic all exist. Her take on the vampire is new and fresh. This is not just a vampire teen romance. Ms. Love has taken the dark Christian (we met him in "Fangs for the Memories") and made this anti-hero a wonderful romance hero!
Christian Young is looking for redemption after reaching rock bottom. Now this vampire has left all of his creature comforts behind in order to live his own twelve-step program. He's going to live like a human. Well, this is easier said then done and just when he thinks that life can't get any worse he becomes the reluctant hero when he saves Jolee Dugan from her knife-wielding brother. Now his somewhat well ordered life is about to get a lot more complicated then ever before. Why now after all these years is he attracted to a mortal?
Jolee is trying so hard to escape the taint of her family. Too bad her family and her past keep intruding on the life she's trying to make. When handsome yummy man from across the street saves her from her kid brother she's grateful. When same yummy guy accidentally tries to run her off the road...well, that's just not something a hero would do...no matter that it was an accident. Well, now she can't keep her mind off of Christian and Christian seems to be not inclined to ignoring her. Well, you can't dodge fate and fate has plans for these two wounded and lost souls. Even though they find love with the other, will they be able to hold on to it, or will life inevitably get in the way?
This is a story about finding redemption and acceptance. Jolee and Christian are wonderfully crafted characters the reader will feel connected the moment they start the story. Ms. Love has an amazing talent for telling a story and her vision of the vampire legend is fresh and unique. It takes a very strong talent to take a villain and turn him into a sympathetic, likeable hero. Ms. Love has managed to do this. This is one author that truly shines in the romance genre!

If I hadn't seen it for myself, I'd swear it couldn't be true: my brother, Christian, living in a trailer park and working at a karaoke bar. Sometimes your hell can turn into your heaven. And thanks to Christian's chatty neighbour and boss, Jolee, things seem to be getting a whole lot nicer in Shady Fork Mobile Estates. Not that either of them has the first idea how to have a normal relationship - we are talking about a woman's who's only dated dead-beats, and a guy who's only dated the dead. Well, nobody's perfect.
