This book captures your attention right from the start. Truckers and non-truckers alike will be entertained by the well-defined characters in each chapter. You do not need a knowledge of trucking to enjoy this book. Funny and down-to-earth, it would make a great sitcom!

It is reality and some of it is pretty incredible. On top of it all, there is some really funny stuff in here. Once you have been driving awhile, it will all make perfect sense. This is real world trucking dudes, plus you learn about some different jobs that you might not ordinarily associate with trucking, and it has the coolest cover of all. Currently going for my cdlA and this book gives a human perspective to the industry that would of taken maybe years to learn. The trip to NYC i found quite funny. His writing style is very akin to my own stream of thought and I had very little problem getting his points. Brett lays out the 'rules of the game' very well and offers some good advice to survive and thrive. Worth every penny.

www.truckingtruth.com Trucking schools can teach you to drive, but nobody's there to teach you everything else. This book is a no-holds-barred, call 'em as I see 'em account of what I went through when I decided to become a truck driver. I hope to shed some light on what the trucking industry is REALLY like, with no hidden agendas and no regrets.I have absolutely loved my years on the road. The experiences, the friends, the money, the challenges, and the freedom. "There are so many things to know if you want to be successful on the road and they take years to learn.I'm talking about things they don't teach in truck driving schools and things companies don't talk about..at least not honestly. There are "grey areas" and "unwritten rules" in the trucking industry that have a major impact on your life and your career - and only time on the road will reveal the reailtiesof becoming a truck driver......"- Brett Aquila, Author - "Becoming A Truck Driver:The Raw Truth About Trucking"

A great text featuring concise definitions and great illustrations! My truck driving school, Transportation Center For Excellence (TCE), bases their curriculum on this book. I'm going to keep my copy with me on the road. It will serve as a handy reference.

The Tractor Trailer Book: Practical Advice For Driving Tractor Trailers Review

The Tractor Trailer Book: Practical Advice For Driving Tractor Trailers

I am changing careers into truck driving as I am 52 and my previous jobs keep migrating over seas. In the past, I bought a few books on how to drive a tractor trailer. Even though those books were good, they did not go into the detail of backing that I needed to understand. The previous books we very limited in the description on how to perform backing. I found that "The Tractor Trailer Book" explained very well the methods of backing in different types of situations. The book also describes the essentials of driving in the categories of shifting, highway driving, city driving, and attitude among other important driving concepts. I would very much recommend this book to new drivers and even experienced drivers that need more help on their backing techniques.
