The action is non-stop and will have you on the edge of your seat as the clues unravel to the killer. I loved this book and read it at least twenty times. This book is a definite must-read.

The Buddy Files: The Case of the Missing Family (Book 3) Review

(More customer reviews)This is one of those stories where I'd give it 4 1/2 stars if I could. The ending just made me sad. My girls were a little puzzled by the ending and weren't sure how to feel about it. We've read all the books in the series (5 so far) and have really enjoyed them. In the first book, Buddy is in the P-O-U-N-D and gets adopted by Connor and his mom. Connor goes missing and Buddy (aka King) helps find him. In the second book, two mutts are mixed up. Buddy has a hand in fixing the mixup and helping the dogs get back to their rightful owners. In this third book, Buddy is going to find his original owner Kayla and her family. Buddy tags along to find his old family. I don't want to spoil the ending. It is one of those endings that ends as well as it could, but my heart hurts for Kayla. I know that is the way life is, but it doesn't make it any easier--for adults or for kids. At the end of this book, there will definitely be some things to talk with your children about about pets and when people can and can't have them.
The writing is very appropriate for 1st-3rd graders. The reading level is 1st/2nd grade, but there are very few pictures, so it's a great transition book to help kids get used to reading chapter books. The font is larger and very easy to read. It seems like some of the things introduced in these books might scare young children (divorce--Connor's parents are divorced, strangers--Bk 1, tornadoes--Bk 3, dognapping--Bk 2, dog running away--Bk 3, pound and humane society--Bk1/2/3), but all of the topics introduced in these books are talked about very gently and only touched on--which will allow you as a parent to talk to your children as much or as little as you want to about them. My girls are 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 and tend to be very fearful, but they weren't afraid of anything in these books. They just wanted to know what happened next!
I highly recommend all three books in this series and I know my girls would say the same!

Sam Saddlebags Horse Detective: Book 1: Movie Madness Review

The Hollywood Sisters: Truth or Dare Review

(More customer reviews)Jessica Ortiz is probably the most normal person in Hollywood. Or at least in Mary Wilcox's version of Hollywood in The Hollywood Sisters: Truth or Dare.
Jessica is sweet, shy (like "Urkele" shy), down to earth, and has had to draft personal apologies to numerous celebrities. Jessica seems to have the worst luck with celebrities, in a town that just so happens to be full of them.
To "help" matters, Jessica's sister, Eva, is the star of a hit teen TV show, her best friend, Rebecca, is the child of two of the more famous movie producers in town, and to top it off, Rebecca managed to score them both parts in her mother's newest movie. But can things go off without a hitch or will everything go terribly wrong?
This was probably the more adorable story I've read in a long time. There was fun, mystery (Nancy Drew's got some competition!), a little romance, and ghosts! There's also some named that most of us will recognize, which is totally refreshing to see and I think makes a bit more enjoyable to see something that's familiar.
If you've got a couple hours to kill or are looking for a quick dose of comic relief, then pick this up. With adorable characters, wonderful dialogue, fast paced setting, and a delightful plot, it was a pleasant surprise to read something light and fun like The Hollywood Sisters: Truth or Dare.
Younger readers will thoroughly enjoy the story, and I think that's the target age, but older readers will also enjoy the lightness and even the cute little mystery that is contained within these pages. And no worries if you haven't read any of the other books in the series, this can totally stand alone.

Only in L.A. would a school internship involve celebrity guest stars and hitting your mark. Acting is not my thing (can you say shy spasm?) . . . but mysteries are. I'm working as an extra on my sister's latest movie, and legend has it that the mansion we're filming in is haunted. Last Seen in Aberdeen: A Sergent Mornay Mystery (Scottish Mystery Series) Review

No ransom demand was ever made and a Scottish task force was convened to find the child that caught the whole nation's attention. It was during a traffic accident when a horse trailer turned upside down that Matthews' lifeless body was found, the victim of blunt force trauma to the head. Also, inside the trailer were two dead lambs that belonged to Finovar Castle.
CID sergeant Seth Mornay is currently working the case trying to find the boy's killer. The job is not made easier by Deputy Justice Minister Lord Mindo Gordon, who is using Matthew's death to make a bigger name for himself by insisting the police are not working hard enough to find the killer. If that wasn't enough Mornay's father is under investigation for smuggling drugs and Pamela who is carrying his child is in a coma in a hospital while her sister is threatening to sue Seth for custody. Evidence in Matthew's murder seems to implicate the inhabitants of Finovar Castle and in particular David Lockward who refuses to tell the police where he was on the day Matthew was kidnapped.
M.G. Kincaid has written a brilliantly plotted British police procedural that stars Seth Mornay who first appeared in THE LAST VICTIM IN GLENN ROSS. Readers gain more insight into the complex character of the hero whose professional and personal lives are falling to pieces. LAST SEEN IN ABERDEEN gives armchair travelers a feel for what life in Scotland is like. This author's star is on the rise.

Body Copy: A Novel Review

As a huge fan of murder mysteries in general and Robert Parker's "Spenser Series" specifically I found Craven's 1st effort to be right on the money and very promising. Craven's P.I. character, Donald Tremaine, is a likeable loner, well-crafted and brimming with personality and character. Craven hits all the necessary beats of an effective crime novel but his book stands out through his ability pepper the story with a ton of wit while simultaneously weaving in heartfelt emotion and psychological intrigue. I was fully engaged throughout and am craving some more.

The Missing Horse Mystery (Nancy Drew No. 145) Review

(More customer reviews)Nancy is attending the Grand Prix Dressage Championship along with her friend Bess Marvin. There is a lot of winners at the show and there are a lot of expensive horses too. There are a lot of mysteries at the show and it is up to Nancy to solve them. This is a very good book. If you like mysteries you would like this book a lot.

(More customer reviews)Having read several of the later Undersherrif Bill Gastner mysteries I found myself a little torn with this one.
I love the character of Bill Gastner. The characters in this series are particularly well-developed and realistic. The procedures in this book are thorough and seemingly well-depicted (I'm not a police officer but it seemed pretty kosher to me) except for one very large hole in the way the investigation developed - a whole line of investigation was ignored that seemed obvious to me. This hurt the integrity of the book in my eyes but I still give it 4 stars.
If you are a fan of Tony Hillerman's Navajo Tribal Police books you should check out this series.

The Fourth Stall Review

Chris Rylander has an amazing sense of humor, and the Fourth Stall is one of the few books that has made me laugh out loud repeatedly. I definitely hope there are more books in this series! If you are looking for a fun and funny read, or you are buying for a reluctant reader, the Fourth Stall is a great choice!

It's about three friends trying to help out a trappez girl named Lolita. Lolita was kidnapped and raised by a grumpy man named Kroon. When she found out she was kidnapped, Kroon would not let her escape. Everyone was afraid of him because of his violence. Finally Nancy and her freinds agreed to help her. She did not know at the time that she was not only putting her self in danger, but her friends too. One incident was when Nancy and George were tied up and put on a train headed toward Canada. Another one was when Nancy was stanggeled with a black rope. Kroon knew they were on to him. So he kept planning plots to get them off his track. No matter how bad it was. But Nancy drew out smarted him by contacting Lolita's real parents. Her father was dead, but her mother was still alive. Her name was Lola Flanders. Nancy also contacted the police and told them to meet her there the same time Lola Flanders would. When everyone arrived, Kroon made a run for it. Into the woods he went. Nancy ran after him on a horse named star. She would do trick riding bare back on him. That's when one of Kroon's friends threw a rock, hit her in the head and Knocked her unconscious. Anyways, as Nancy dashed through the forest, the police made a road block on the other side. To find out what happens, read the book The Ringmaster's Secret. Trust me, the ending is really well fitted.I really liked the book because mystery stories are my thing. Also, I love it when I am kept on the egde of my seat. You never know whats going to happen next. And when you get to a really suspensful part, you can't stop reading.I think the Author did a great job of writting the book. She must have really been into mystery stories too, or she wouldn't of written it. If I were to grow up and be a writer, these would be the exact kind of books I would write. Mystery stories. I don't like those other books. lLike the mushy love stuff. Or an every day life. I could'nt handle it.
