This Seasence winch is not Galvanized as advertised. It has been coated with some kind of silver paint that they call Seacoat. I chose this model specifically because it was supposed to be Galvanized. Not very happy with this made in Taiwan product.

Purchased this winch to replace the crank assembly on a cantilevered umbrella on my deck. It allowed us to finish up the season with the 10' sq umbrella. The winch is easy to install and worked well for us.

Seasense Trailer Winch 1400-Pound with Strap Review

First off, I don't even own a boat, but these things are handy for a mutitude of use. This winch is by far the best manual winch I've ever owned! It is very well made with an ergonomic handle that feels good in your hand. The gears work smoothly and the main sprocket can easily be released to free-wheel. I especially like the 20' nylon strap. It always reels in perfectly flat. The bracket is easy to mount on just about any configuration and has nice rounded edges. I use this winch mostly to secure my Polaris Ranger to the trailer after I have driven it on. It pulls the front tires tight up against the front rail of the trailer and locks it there. I can then set my parking brake and I'm good to go. (So much easier than ratchet straps or anything else I have tried.) Of course, I can also use it to drag heavy items onto the trailer. The included 20' strap is plenty long enough for that. Other reviews mention the loud operation. I don't see that as an issue even in the woods, since I am loading up after the hunt. Sprockets have to make a clicking sound when you are reeling in. Releasing the winch in the morning when I get to the woods is basically silent. I am very satisfied with this winch and feel that I got my money's worth, and then some!
