Tanner loves all outdoor sports, but Ryan would rather stay indoors and get his adventure from video games. So when Tanner railroads him into a brothers-only kayaking trip, Ryan is apprehensive. But Tanner is so confident and competent that Ryan goes along with him.
The beginning of the trip was easier than Ryan thought it would be. The river was high, and easy to navigate; the sunshine and the fishing were great. Ryan almost began to enjoy himself. The first whitewater chute was exciting and a little scary, but the second chute was bigger, louder, and more dangerous. Just as they started down, Ryan saw something ahead: a black log, right in the middle of the chute, with a jagged end pointing straight at them, and it wasn't moving. Not at all.
When their rubber kayak was impaled by the log, the boys were thrown out into the river. Ryan swam for shore, but Tanner floated downriver, unconscious. Ryan's adventures, pulling his brother to shore and working to save his life and rescue both his brother and himself, make an exciting story for ages 8-12. Especially good for reluctant readers, as the adventures are non-stop, and the style of writing is lively.

Camping Southern California Review

(More customer reviews)This is a nice basic campground review book. The best thing about it is how the campgrounds are organized and mapped. Looking through the book you will immediatly know where and in which parks/forests/recreation area the camprounds are located, and which other campgrounds are nearby. The desriptions, however, are pretty bare boned. This would be nice to buy this along with a more indepth, descriptive book, like "the best in tent camping, so cal" which I also have and recommend highly.

(More customer reviews)I picked up this book because I have been thinking about taking the wife and our son on a camping trip. My wife doesn't really like the idea so I thought I'd do some research and get some information on what to expect and what to plan for.
This book covers literally everything you could think of to plan out a perfect camping trip for your family. The main focus is on camping at National Parks which is great since that was what I was planning on... maybe Yellowstone? My wifes biggest concern is not having a shower or a bathroom.... haha. But with this book, I was able to show her that there are ameneties for every type of person! I think she's finally excited about camping!
If you're a novice or an expert camper, you probably won't find a lot of info here that you didn't already know, but if you've never gone camping and want to experience this with your family, I highly recommend getting this great book and preparing yourself before heading out into the wild.

Words alone are not enough to describe what this group has done for me. Apparently tho, not to worry. Irene Rawlings has done it for me.Through beautiful photographs and personal accounts, as well as useful tips and fabulous recipes, Rawlings has successfully captured what the Sisters on the Fly are all about. While our life as wives, mothers, partners and employees keep us busy, it is not all that we are. This group enables us to decompress and share with each other, who we are at our core. Women from all over the country (and a few outside) gather together and enjoy their differences as well as similarities. We don't all fish or have trailers, and there are some who will admit that the closest they get to camping is tardy room service, but make no mistake. Coghlan's Tri-Pod Grill and Lantern Hanger Review

(More customer reviews)I'll be the first reviewer and give it four stars. Four stars means it does what it's supposed to do more than well enough to justify its cost. It's still a star away from perfect though.
I've been taking mine on multiple road trips a year for a couple of years. I typically set up camp, start some briquettes burning in the fire pit, erect the grill over them, and cook my burgers or steaks or grill some veggies for dinner. Later, as the sun nears the horizon, I raise the grill up out of the way, throw some kindling on top of the briquettes, and get the campfire going.
The unit is very light, collapses down to a small size, and goes back together rather easily. It is not without a couple of glitches. The chain the grate is suspended from gets tangled and jams in its guide. This is minor but it seems like something the manufacturer should have addressed. The chrome on the grill didn't last as long as I expected either and I now have to clean it before every use. Having a sturdier box to store it in would've been nice too.
The only thing that has broken is one of the shock cords inside one of the legs let go on my last camping trip. The grill has seen enough use that I'm debating whether or not to fix it (easy enough) or buy a slightly better one since I've used this one far more than I ever expected. What would you do?
In summation, to get well over 25 trips out of a grill that cost less than $25 is called getting my money's worth.
