This book is not about horsetraining, it is about working on THE HUMAN, so if you are looking for specific horsetraining information, this is not it. However, it is an excellent guide for anyone not achieving their goals, whether it be with the horse(s) in their life, or any other part of their life. There are specific assignments in the book to help the reader - so reader involvement is required. This book would be great for any riding instructor who is interested in non-traditional methods.

(More customer reviews)A friend recommended this book to me and I wasn't sure why since I have never owned a horse..nor did I plan to own one. But I bought the book anyway....always up for learning something new.
This book swept me away. From the first to last page I felt transported! I could imagine myself sitting on the porch of the Camp's home watching these magnificent creatures. I learned SO much about horses and their SOULS. With everything that's been going on in the world of horse racing, this could not have been written at a more appropriate time.
The book is clever, witty and inspiring. A very fast read. I was sad when I finished it because I wanted to read more! And so many of the lessons can be applied to LIFE...not just horses.
You will not regret reading this book. And I will never look at a horse the same way.

(More customer reviews)I wasn't really sure of what to expect when I started this book. Something about the review grabbed me and I ordered it. But when I began reading it, I found myself transported into Susan Richards' life. I could see myself in her and found the feelings she had. Maybe it's because I lost my mother when I was young (along with my 3 siblings). But mostly it's because I am a lover of life, of all life, and especially animals. And I fell in love with all of her horses. This book made me feel clean and it was absolutely delicious to read. At Chapter 17 I began crying and fortunately I was alone in the house because I sobbed my way to the end, making loud sloppy noises and feeling free to just empty the box of kleenex by my side. But the overall experience of the book was the joy of life. You could feel and smell and hear and see all of the senses of life that were being described. It was a wonderful experience and I am grateful to Amazon for recommending it to me, and to Susan Richards for writing it.
