What an enjoyable read! Ms. Bayless creates characters who are real and face real situations without becoming either pedantic or shallow. She hits a nice middle road. She deals with feminist/feminine story-lines, but the issues are human issues, regardless of the reader's gender. As the previous poster mentioned, not all of her stories are neatly tied up by the end. But then, how often are stories tied up neatly in life? I like that aspect of her writing.
Good book! Read it.

In this collection of short stories, we travel through time along the East Coast, watching people struggle with questions of love, justice, friendship and betrayal. Loneliness and love combine with environmental and ethical questions as our protagonists face their demons. Some move forward while others do not. Throughout it all, however, we realize that Fate does not have the last word. There is always the chance for a fresh start.
